Eternit Slates' Guide To Heavenly Roofs
Eternit Slates, the market leader in double-lap slating, has launched a new detailed guide containing information on its wide range of 'heavenly' slates.
The three storey office buildings were designed in two stages.
Phase 1, completed in early 2002, benefited from Marley Roofing Products' Marquess Interlocking Slates in Slate Grey, providing a thin leading edge and smooth surface that replicates the appearance of natural slate.
With a hidden interlock, the product has been specifically designed to increase weather resistance by improving water ingress even at high winds.
Marley Roofing Products' Slate Grey Marquess was subsequently selected for Phase 2 of the development, in keeping with the style of the first and was completed in mid 2003.
Ian Ritchie of Architects Haden Ritchie commented: "One of the main reasons for using Marquess on these two structures was aesthetics.
The site is very high profile with the buildings clearly visible from the motorway and the slip-road approach.
Our clients, Sibson Mill Properties, wanted the units to appear visually attractive and the application of the Marquess slates on the large expanses of visible roof provided the best solution.
"Although there is eighteen months between the construction of the first unit and the second, there is no difference in the appearance of the slates caused by weathering or climate, which presents an aesthetically uniform appearance and reflects the extremely high quality of the build." A range of complementary roofing accessories complete the roofs, including slate mitred hip, dry verge and dry ridge.
Builders for Phase 1 were Sol Construction and for Phase 2, Coltham Ltd with Crosby Roofing as roofing contractor.
Two more commercial office blocks are planned for the site in the near future, in which Architects Haden Richie will continue to use the Marley Roofing Products Marquess Interlocking Slate. Request a free brochure from Marley Eternit ...
