Farm upgraded by Marley Eternit profiled sheeting

A Marley Eternit product story

Marley Eternit fibre cement profiled sheeting has been used to replace asbestos cement sheets at Newham Grange Country Farm in Middlesbrough.

Newham Grange Country Farm was undergoing a major refurbishment including converting one of the buildings to a cafe, and the council, which owns the facility, felt that this provided an opportunity to replace the existing roof sheets.

Marley Eternit profiled sheeting is widely used on agricultural and equestrian buildings because, while watertight, it has an ability to absorb 25 per cent of its dry weight in moisture and dissipate it in more favourable conditions.

This significantly reduces the occurrence of condensation, helping to reduce breathing related conditions in animals, which will prove particularly beneficial to the rare breeds at Newham Grange.

The fibre cement sheets also offer corrosion resistant as it has no metallic content.

This makes it highly suitable for buildings that house animals as the breath from livestock is slightly acidic and would have a detrimental effect on steel sheets.

Marley Eternit fibre cement sheeting has a life expectancy of up to 50 years.

It eliminates reverberation from hail and heavy rain often found with other sheet materials and therefore improves animal welfare.

Fibre cement profiled sheeting has achieved an A+ rating in the BRE (Building Research Establishment) Green Guide to Specification, which recognised its low maintenance and long life expectancy.

Marley Eternit is the only UK-based manufacturer of fibre cement sheeting, providing customers with a reduced carbon footprint compared to overseas manufactured products.
