Vertical sliding sash windows maximise brightness

An Eurocell Profiles product story

Food Windows has supplied Eurocell vertical sliding sash windows for David Wilson Homes' Devessey Woodlands development in Sleaford.

The project comprises the original hospital buildings at the centre of the development, which will be converted to houses and apartments surrounded by two-, three-, four-, and five-bedroom new-build properties.

The development is in a conservation area and there was a requirement that the new-build properties should be in-keeping with the existing hospital building and the local area.

David Wilson Homes chose vertical sliding sash windows on this development to complement the original sash windows on the 19th century hospital buildings.

Maximising the amount of daylight within a home is becoming an increasingly popular trend, as home owners seek the benefits of lighter and brighter homes.

The opening on the vertical sliding windows is said to be ideal for keeping the home cool in summer.

This effect is achieved by partially opening both the top and bottom sashes, which lets fresh air enter through the lower sash while warm stale air exits through the open top sash.

The ability to constantly keep the air circulating on hot summer days will ensure the properties remain cool and comfortable.

During the winter the Low E glass, in addition to the precision-engineered profiles that eliminate the problems associated with loose-fitting sashes, will ensure they remain thermally efficient during the colder months.

The Eurocell vertical sliding window, fabricated from the Eurologik system, is designed around a 70mm front-to-back dimension making it ideal for both new build and renovations.

The vertical sliding sash design has British Board of Agrement accreditation, which provides the customer with important data on durability, installation and compliance with Building Regulations.

The system has an internally glazed sculptured bead and equal sightlines to create an attractive appearance inside and out.

The profiles ensure a precision fit of the sashes within the frame, which improves air tightness and thermal performance.

In addition, both sashes on the window are inward tilting for ease of cleaning.

The vertical sliding sash is supplied with a range of decorative options including decorative horns and Georgian bar fixing.
