Cavalok production saves PVC-U waste from landfill

Cavalok Building Products is the only manufacturer of BBA accredited cavity closure systems made from 100 per cent post-consumer recycled PVC-U.

Cavalok has recently celebrated the production of one million metres of cavity closer from post-consumer recycled PVC-U.

The profiles were manufactured by Merritt Plastics, which is a post-consumer PVC-U recycling and extrusion company and Recovinyl certified recycler.

The two companies work in partnership to reduce the amount of PVC-U waste going to landfill.

Producing one million metres of Cavalok cavity closer means that the combined companies have saved more than 1,000 tonnes of waste PVC-U and have set a benchmark for the sustainable use of resources.

Using end-of-life and waste PVC-U to produce the Cavalok range of cavity closers means that the end product itself helps to improve the thermal efficiency of UK homes.

Cavity closers are a critical and compulsory building component used in an increasing number of new build projects to create door and window openings, while sealing the cavities and providing a thermal break.

The Bigblok, Economy and Cavalok products enable faster and easier installation of windows as well as improved thermal efficiency for the whole building.

The Cavalok product range is widely used for brick/block, steel and timber frame buildings in the new build residential and commercial sectors.

Cavalok will be demonstrating its full range of BBA accredited cavity closers at Ecobuild in March 2010.
