The Building Awards is the leading Construction industry event of its type and showcases the most innovative products and projects created during the past twelve months.

Eurocell was shortlisted because of the work it is doing in the area of post-consumer PVC-U recycling, its market-leading energy efficient and sustainable window and door solutions and its overall business performance throughout the recession.

The panel of judges recognised the advances made by Eurocell in creating value-for- money energy rated windows, using its innovative 100 per cent recycled PVC-U Thermal Inserts.

PVC-U Thermal Inserts are multi-chambered recycled PVC-U profiles fitted within the frame to improve thermal performance and rigidity.

They enable lower U-values and higher Energy Index Ratings to be achieved without the need for expensive glass specifications.

And being made from 100 per cent recycled material makes PVC-U Thermal Inserts are a sustainable product as well as creating a 100% recyclable window at end of first life.

PVC-U Thermal Inserts are used on the company's 0.8 U-value window, which meets Level 6 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.

The inserts are also used to create the innovative Eurologik 'A+14' window system, which offers both the new build and replacement sectors maximum thermal performance.

The A+14 specification is currently the highest BFRC (British Fenestration Ratings Council) rating for a double glazed PVC-U window in the UK.

The judges commended the fact that Eurocell has been able to achieve these market leading thermal performance levels, whilst still offering housebuilders value for money - because PVC-U Thermal Inserts avoid the need for expensive low iron glass.

Eurocell follows a customer-focused business strategy, which has included training five in-house BFRC-accredited simulators - to help its customers achieve enhanced WERs (Window Energy Ratings).

"We are delighted to be shortlisted for a Building Award," said Chris Coxon, Marketing Manager at Eurocell.

"The investment we have made in recycling operations and new product development means we are able to offer market-leading solutions for all sectors of the building industry and it is great to see our commitment recognised in this way".

A GBPmulti-million manufacturing investment programme has enabled Eurocell to create an advanced post-consumer PVC-U recycling facility that recently produced its one millionth metre of post-consumer waste.

New machinery is also facilitating the development of new products which will keep Eurocell at the forefront of sustainable PVC-U systems.
