Europanel helps transform '60s eyesore
Grey and silver composite steel panels from Eurobond are transforming Saville House, a 1960s warehouse in the heart of Sheffield.
The exterior of the nine-story brick and concrete structure has been completely transformed with the new cladding of Europanel Extra panels, while the interior has been stripped out and refurbished to create over 100,000 sq ft of Grade A office accommodation The building has long stood unoccupied and derelict on one of the major approaches to the city centre and was described by Sheffield City Council chief executive Sir Bob Kerslake as an 'eyesore'

Europanel Lite composite cladding panels have been used in the construction of a new sports centre at the Mark Hall Community School and Specialist Sports College, in Harlow.
He said that the new development would transform it into a landmark building and provide some terrific office space.
Saville House stands in a prominent position on one of the main routes into Sheffield, so the visual impact of the cladding was a key consideration.
To achieve the required appearance the architects, SMC Gower, specified colour coated Europanel Extra 125 with an architecturally flat finish in two colours - Silver Metallic and Grey Aluminium.
These were combined with horizontal bands of integral solar reflective glazing to create the building's distinctive look.
On the adjoining car park, Europanel Lite panels were used in the same colours to match the main building.
Andrew Bourne of SMC Gower says that Europanel Extra was the most cost-effective way to achieve the required levels of insulation and fire protection while meeting the aesthetic requirements of the project.
"It was important for us to have a flat panel finish," he says.
"And the non-combustible Rockwool core gave us the fire protection we required".
"As well as thermal insulation, the cladding panels also needed to provide acoustic insulation to isolate the offices from the noise of the busy road outside".
The new cladding was fixed to the building using an enhanced top hat system spanning from floor to floor with the Europanel cladding laid horizontally.
The strength and rigidity of the Europanel Extra allows for longer unsupported horizontal spans.
This meant that the amount of supporting steelwork could be reduced saving installation time and material cost.
