Facom's cutters and pliers combine precision, strength and durability.

Featured in 'Facom Selection 2005, Facom's cutters and pliers combine precision, strength and durability * Precise cutting in all materials

* Perfectly mating jaws * Heat treated after machining * Ideal for automotive and industrial electrical work Following changes to its manufacturing processes, Facom's entire range of cutters and pliers now boasts increased precision, strength and durability: resulting in clean, precise and repeatable cuts.

Specifically, Facom has invested in new grinding equipment that allows the machining of cutting edges and mating jaws after heat treatment.

Facom's Senior Product Manager, Andrew Woolner, comments: "A tool's precision, strength and durability are very much dependent on the manufacturing processes employed." Most manufacturers machine their tool jaws before heat treatment, whilst the metal is easier to machine, but heat treatment often results in distortion.

Hence, in order to deliver precision, most manufacturers 'hold back' on the heat treatment - compromising the strength and durability of the tools.

Woolner continues: "When selecting cutters and pliers, users have historically had to purchase separate pliers for hard and soft wire types".

"Now, thanks to our new manufacturing process, the users of Facom's cutters and pliers need only a single pair".

Precision: the jaws of Facom's cutters and pliers mate perfectly, resulting in precise, clean cuts.

Strength: Facom's pliers will cut through all normal sorts of wire, both hard (piano wire) and soft (copper) with no change in precision.

Durability: advancements in metallurgy mean that although lower profile the products produced are just as strong as traditional tools.

The new manufacturing process is being used for all of Facom's 50 plus cutters and pliers: many of which are featured in the company's 'Facom Selection 2005' brochure.
