Apprentice of the Year 2007 crowned at this year's 'Master Builder of the Year Awards', organised by the Federation of Master Builders (FMB).

Politicians from across the political spectrum are joining together to support a Glasgow carpenter, Mark Lynch, who has been crowned Apprentice of the Year 2007 at this year's 'Master Builder of the Year Awards', organised by the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) A motion tabled in the Scottish Parliament offers its congratulations to Mark for his exceptionally high standards of workmanship, commitment and fantastic attitude

Twenty-year-old Mark, from Glasgow, has been carving out the career of an exceptional apprentice carpenter from an early age and now works full-time at City Building (Glasgow), who had no hesitation in taking him on at the end of his apprenticeship.

Grahame Barn, Director of FMB Scotland said, "We are delighted that both Robert Brown MSP and Sandra White MSP have lodged motions in the Scottish Parliament congratulating Mark".

"Compared to the UK as a whole, Scotland has a very good record when it comes to training with 45% of all UK construction apprentices trained by Scottish companies".

"FMB Scotland's 655 member companies employ over 800 apprentices".

"We hope that the Scottish Parliament will continue to recognise the good work of organisations such as the FMB in encouraging construction firms to take on and support apprentices.".
