UK Woodland Assurance Standard Update

The UK Woodland Assurance Standard is currently being revised with a completion date of 30 September 2004.

The UKWAS Steering Group has identified three issues that will be dealt with in particular depth Anyone with an interest in the Standard is encouraged to engage in the revision process

An initial consultation to identify areas of the Standard that could be reviewed threw up a number of suggestions.

All the comments received will be addressed, but three subjects have been identified as being of particular importance.

These are: Improving access to certification for small woodlands; Guidance on management planning for woodland; Clarifying use of chemicals in woodland.

The UKWAS Steering Group is keen to get input from interested parties on these and other issues.
