Mardi was educated in Australia and moves into the UK forestry sector from her previous role working on improvement strategies and waste directive policy with the Local Government Association.
She brings to EFIP her experience of working in a number of the key sectors both in Australia and internationally.
The post is supported by Forestry Commission England, Forest Industries Development Council and the Country Land and Business Association.
FIDC Executive Director, Peter Wilson, welcomed the appointment saying: "FIDC has been working to develop a much stronger partnership between business and government in England.
Mardi's appointment allows the sector to start work on establishing its own priorities in partnership with Forestry Commission England, Regional Development Agencies and other government partners.
We have already seen how this approach yields results in Scotland and Wales so this is a major step forward for England's forestry sector".
Julie Collins, Rural Development Adviser at Forestry Commission England, said: "The delivery of the England Forestry Strategy requires a strong and vibrant forest industries sector in England.
We see the EFIP partnership as a key tool enabling business and government to work together to boost sector competitiveness".
Mardi said: "I am only too aware of the challenges the industry faces in England.
My immediate task is to help the sector develop strategic objectives and a detailed action plan on how we can all work together to reconnect the industry and move it forward, learning from the experiences of Scotland and Wales and of previous initiatives in England.
The business sector's active participation in these strategic developments is crucial to the partnership's success".
