The Forestry Commission has published "Forestry Facts and Figures 2005", an annual publication presenting statistics on aspects of British and United Kingdom forestry.
The Forestry Commission has published "Forestry Facts and Figures 2005", an annual publication presenting statistics on aspects of British and United Kingdom forestry The main findings are that: the estimated woodland area in Great Britain at 31 March 2005 was 2.7 million hectares; 1.3 million hectares in Scotland, 1.1 million hectares in England, and 0.3 million hectares in Wales; almost 12 thousand hectares of new woodland were created in Great Britain in the year to 31 March 2005; a total of 8.8 million green tonnes of UK timber (roundwood) were delivered to primary wood processors and others in 2004; and the amount of wood products imported into the United Kingdom in 2004 was equivalent to about 52 million cubic metres of timber underbark (excluding the bark)
