New forestry commissioners appointed
The Queen has appointed two new members to the Board of Forestry Commissioners, who oversee the work of the Forestry Commission on behalf of the Government.

Her 20-year career has spanned academia, research and private-sector consultancy for a wide range of construction, land management and regeneration projects.
She is a non-executive member of the Board of the Countryside Agency, serving on its audit and risk committee, its Landscape, Access and Recreation Task Group, and on the Natural England steering group.

Britain's Forest Area Grows
Over twelve thousand hectares (30,000 acres) of new woodlands were planted in Britain last year, helping to bring our forest cover to the highest level it has been in over 300 years.
She was the first female chair of the Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management's (CIWEM) North Western and North Wales branch, and teaches industrial environmental management at Liverpool John Moores University's School for the Built Environment.
She has been an associate lecturer in environmental control and public health for the Open University, and holds a PhD in industrial waste water treatment from the University of Manchester and a BSc Honours degree in biological sciences from Manchester Metropolitan University.
Dr MacDonald is vice-chair of a new community-owned company set up to develop a windfarm in the Hebrides and reinvest the revenue in local communities' economic, social and environmental development.
He was a Member of Parliament from 1987 to 2005, and a Minister for housing, transport, planning, the Highlands and Islands and European issues at the Scottish Office from 1997 until the establishment of the Scottish Parliament in 1999.
He helped to write the 1990 report on Land Use and Forestry for the UK Government, and the Land Reform Green Paper, and in 1991 steered the Crofter Forestry (Scotland) Bill through Parliament to its enactment.
He served for 15 years on the Executive Committee of the Fabian Society, a centre-left "think tank", and was its chair in 1999-2000.
He holds a PhD in political philosophy from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he was a Teaching Fellow between 1981 and 1985, and an MA degree in history from Edinburgh University.
Dr Adebowale will serve on the Commission's National Committee for England.
She replaces Dr Victoria Edwards, of Lyndhurst, Hampshire, who is stepping down after six years as a Forestry Commissioner.
Dr MacDonald will chair the Commission's National Committee for Scotland, and replaces Andrew Raven, who died last year.
The national committees fulfil many of the functions of the Commissioners in their respective countries.
Lord David Clark, chairman of the Commissioners, welcomed the new appointments, saying, "I very much welcome these appointments, and all of us at the Commission look forward to their contributions".
"Tayo Adebowale and Calum MacDonald bring a valuable breadth and depth of experience and expertise to the Commission, and they share our vision of the potential for modern, sustainably managed forests to improve people's lives in many different ways.".
