The Forestry Commission has published statistics on timber harvested and used by primary wood-processing industries in the United Kingdom.

The Forestry Commission today published statistics on timber harvested and used by primary wood-processing industries in the United Kingdom in "UK Timber Statistics 2006" The main findings are that: a total of 8.8 million green tonnes of UK timber (roundwood) was delivered to primary wood processors and others in 2005; and deliveries of sawlogs to sawmills accounted for 5.1 million green tonnes (57% of the total UK roundwood deliveries)

A further 1.5 million green tonnes of roundwood (17%) were delivered to wood-based panel mills, and 0.7 million green tonnes (8%) to integrated pulp and paper mills.

Other uses included round fencing, fuelwood and exports of roundwood.
