Forestry Commission Scotland opens sustainable green office in Inverness.
Forestry Commission Scotland will officially open its new Inverness District Office on Monday 29 January The new sustainable, green building is located at Smithton and is a pioneering exemplar of timber construction, boasting some of the most impressive environmental credentials in the country

A range of Forestry Commission statistical publications are issued as "National Statistics", on pre-announced dates.
Every component of the building's structure and fabric is Green-book A-rated and nearly all sourced from local forests.
Similarly, local contractors and suppliers won the contracts during the building process reinforcing the 'home-grown' nature of the new office.
Creatively designed by Inverness based HRI Architects, the state-of-the-art office uses natural resources to heat and control the temperature of the building, as well as, harvesting rainwater to reduce water requirements.
In addition, light sensors throughout the building are one of the integrated features which help ensure the building is energy efficient.
The office will accommodate 29 members of staff on daily basis.
Calum Macdonald, Chairman of Forestry Commission Scotland National Committee will officially open the building during the celebratory event attended by local politicians, contractors, suppliers and Forestry Commission Scotland representatives.
