Martell Take Centre Stage At The Theatre
Royal
Martell Lighting has been chosen, along with Western Electrical Plymouth, to supply, install and commission a new AC central battery emergency lighting system at Plymouths prestigious Theatre Royal.
The new Martell system was selected because it uses a high efficiency, static inverter system that derives 240v AC from its low voltage sealed lead acid battery The emergency system can now supply ungraded light sources with improved efficiency and higher light output

Lightform have recently supplied a range of bespoke luminaires for the stunning new wing at Kiddeminster DTC Hospital.
Maintenance of batteries is greatly reduced, and the need for a special battery room and open battery rack was dispensed with.
The Theatre Engineering Team, John Whewell and Nathan McCabe had the difficult task of ensuring the change over occurred at a time of low risk in between performances on a Sunday.
This meant that the old system has to be removed and the new one installed, and up and running within 24 hours.
Therefore working closely with Senior Lighting Consultant, Les Whaley from Western Electrical Wholesale was essential, as vital extra materials were required during the installation.
The system was up and running in time for the first performance on Monday, and subsequently during the following week, the interface was made with existing controls and alarm functions of the old system.
The system supplied was one of the Martell 18kVA static inverters, which comply fully with ICEL 1009 (EN50171) and are manufactured and supplied to a quality system registered to BS EN ISO 9001:2000.
