Fendor makes screen appearance at Prestwick
The construction of Scotland's major new air traffic control facility has involved metal-framed fenestration specialist Fendor Limited in providing high-performance screens and doors.
The overall brief for the space was to provide an inspirational space for people to work in and confound the conventional view of what a call centre should look like.
The interior layout has been imaginatively sub-divided by a roof lit winter garden and a linear arrangement of cellular offices that have been created using FendorHansen's very versatile and highly aesthetic SlimLine system of extrusions.
This has been employed to fabricate a series of elegant glazed partitions able to achieve not only a 40 dB weighted sound reduction, but also in some circumstances, a full one hour's integrity and insulation under BS 476.

Fendor Slimline in London Wall
Fendor's SlimLine secondary glazing system provides fire protection to the externally glazed facade of the new office block, No 1 London Wall.
A member of the project's design team commented: "This was quite a demanding contract in terms of the performance characteristics demanded from the glazed partitions defining the separate office spaces.
While a transparent construction was required to assist with visual communication and to provide a feeling of openness, we also had to achieve high levels of acoustic insulation and fire protection.
"FendorHansen's systems met our aesthetic ambitions for the project while being able to offer the necessary physical performance." Also playing an important part in the fitting out of SAGA's Kent contact centre has been the SwingLine system of doors.
These not only blended in perfectly with the SlimLine screens but matched their physical performance as well.
FendorHansen is part of the Anglo-Scandinavian HansenGroup, one of Europe's leading fenestration specialists, with annual sales of £100 million and over 1,000 employees.

Following the success of the contact centre project, FendorHansen has been contracted to supply similar systems for SAGA in Folkestone.
