Augean Plc, the UK's market leader in the management of hazardous waste, has taken delivery of five Cat 963C waste track loaders and three Cat 325CL excavators from Finning UK, for use at its site operations in the West Midlands and the North East of England Established in August 2004, Augean Plc can handle in excess of 2.2 million tonnes of waste a year, of which 925,000 tonnes is hazardous

The new machines join an existing fleet of 16 machines.

Ken Priestley, group plant manager at Augean Plc, commented: "The UK produces 500 million tonnes of waste every year, of which approximately 5 million tonnes is hazardous, and this figure is expected to rise to approximately 7 million over the next couple of years".

"It is therefore imperative that companies understand the importance of waste management, particularly for hazardous waste".

In July 2004, the Government introduced new legislation broadening the definition of hazardous waste to include discarded vehicles whilst, at the same time, reducing the number of landfill sites that are able to dispose of the full range of waste.

Tony Pache, at Finning, commented: "The new machines are an essential part of the company's operation, ensuring productivity levels remain high, and that the customers receive the best service possible from Augean Plc".

The Cat 963C Waste track loader delivers a strong break out force with fast cycle times and smooth shifts for optimal performance and comfort.

The Cat 325cl excavator has exceptional power, efficiency and controllability, producing consistently high performance in all applications.

Pache continued; "In light of Government changes for the effective disposal of hazardous waste, and with a shortfall of around two million tonnes of land capacity, it is crucial for companies such as Augean Plc to maintain and potentially increase productivity across sites".

"Partnered with Finning, Augean Plc can ensure that its fleet remains operational and is maintained to the highest standard through the Finning service package.".
