Hanson Formpave saves money and water
Hanson Formpave, manufacturers of specialist concrete paving products, has announced at Civils 2007 that its flagship Aquaflow Water Harvesting System is now available for domestic applications.
Businesses are keen to do what they can to help this situation including decreasing the amount of water used, utilising the rainfall that does occur in a sustainable manner and reusing this harvested water within the business.
Formpave place a high importance on such issues and believes that companies can limit damage to the environment in a cost effective way.
They provide an affordable solution to the challenges of water conservation, recycling and reuse with their patented Aquaflow paving system which delivers immediate environmental benefits.
Water harvested by the system and then reused represents a major cost saving, plus the organisation does not have to pay to dispose of large quantities of roof and car park run-off.
Aquaflow has been installed in a vast number of sites throughout the UK and further a field.
The Meadowside Primary School in Quedgeley, and Sanders Garden World in Bristol are a couple of examples where they are successfully and sustainably reusing rainwater for flushing toilets, watering plants etc.
The Formpave SUDS system allows rain to infiltrate through a permeable concrete block paved surface into a unique stone sub-base where it is cleaned, by filtration and microbial action, before being released in a controlled manner into sewers or water courses, or infiltrated directly into the sub-grade.
The water can also be harvested and used for non-potable purposes such as flushing lavatories and horticultural uses.
Aquaflow is just one of the products being showcased at Interbuild 2006, other products include the Chartres range, Clifton range, Formpave Granites range, Royal Forest range, kerbs and small element paving.
As well as these, the new tactile paver, part of the Royal Forest Range is also being exhibited.
Indicating pedestrian crossings they are particularly useful for partially sighted pedestrians and these new 200x133mm pavers have been specially designed, to overcome the breakage and design problems experienced by local authorities with larger element tactile paving.
A further highlight on the stand is Formpaves natural stone paving, Royal Forest Pennant, quarried in the Royal Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire.
The natural patterns and colours of the Royal Forest Pennant stone are unique to the Forest of Dean and provide a striking look for any paved area.
