Forest Pennant natural stone At Tesco,
Ilminster
Forest Pennant, specialists in natural stone products, has supplied its unique paving, steps and a range of kerbs to be used at a new Tesco superstore development in Ilminster, Somerset.
Forest Pennant natural stone has been used around the site to unite the new development with the older, more traditional surroundings of the market town The build was a high profile project in the area, spanning 2.5 hectares that provided a brand new food retail facility but also demanded the preservation of the ambience of the old market town

Somerset County Council and Tesco approached Forest Pennant with the requirement of providing a natural stone paving solution that would aesthetically bring together the existing highways with older parts of the area surrounding the development.
Taking a look at how a natural stone product has helped to preserve the area, Nick Caddy, site manager, from Britannia Construction said, "Forest Pennant's natural stone has met all of the requirements as specified by Somerset County Council".
"The uniformity of the stone was crucial in achieving a high quality, traditional and conserved look in this modern development".
Katherine Robinson, director at Royal Forest Pennant Limited, said "We are really pleased to be involved with such a high profile project in Ilminster and in the way the natural stone has contributed to preserving the aesthetics of this area".
Natural Pennant stone from the Royal Forest of Dean is quarried in the traditional and environmentally friendly, plug and feather method, and has been used as a traditional building material in many of the ancient cities within the South of England and Wales for hundreds of years.
Natural Pennant offers a stunning mix of colours with natural patterns throughout the stone, both unique to the stone quarried in the Forest of Dean.
