Forest Pennant Unites with Forest of
Dean Stone
Forest Pennant, suppliers of Royal Forest Pennant natural stone has purchased 33% of the Forest of Dean Stone Firms business who also own the quarry in Gloucestershire.
Following the success of Forest Pennant in establishing itself as a brand in the stone market and winning a number of strategic contracts throughout the South West and Wales, the two companies have come together to quarry, cut and supply natural stone products to the industry Forest Pennant, formerly part of Formpave, became a stand-alone company when Formpave was sold to Hanson in 2006, and since then it has continued to grow its share in the natural stone paving market

Forest Pennant natural stone At Tesco, Ilminster
Forest Pennant, specialists in natural stone products, has supplied its unique paving, steps and a range of kerbs to be used at a new Tesco superstore development in Ilminster, Somerset.
Pennant has been specified for a number of prestigious projects including 1,400m2 of paving at Tewkesbury Abbey, kerbs and setts for Maesteg High Street, kerbs and paving for Ilminster High Street and Shires, Yard and Octagon projects in Bath.
Another significant paving installation has recently been implemented at the visitor centre Cardiff Castle.

The merge of the companies has enabled investment into the quarry to continue, recent investment includes a Bideseimpianti wire saw for block cutting, a multi-blade Terzago, a new Marina drill rig and corduroy and blister paving can now be made automatically on GMM profilers, compared to previously having to be made by hand.
"We can now be more competitive on price, offer a wider variety of products and offer a short lead time in comparison to other natural stone suppliers," Nick Horton, Director, Forest of Dean Stone Firms said "Our production processes are more efficient and considerate to the environment, with increased functionality and increased capabilities".
"Thankfully benefits as a result of these changes are already being realised by our customers,"Nick added.
Natural Pennant stone from the Royal Forest of Dean is quarried in the traditional and environmentally friendly, plug and feather method, and has been used as a traditional building material in many of the ancient cities within the South of England and Wales for hundreds of years.
Natural Pennant offers a stunning mix of colours with natural patterns throughout the stone, both unique to the stone quarried in the Forest of Dean.
