The Arrow 300 Series of overhead door closers are now certificated for use on doors of up to five-hour fire resistance

The Arrow 300 Series of hydraulically-operated, overhead door closers, designed and consistently produced to the most exacting specifications by the Arrow Division of independent UK manufacturer Freeman and Pardoe Engineering Ltd in Alcester, Warwickshire, now provide a degree of performance exceptionally high for the UK market Accordingly, Arrow 300 Series door closers have recently gained the CERTIFIRE Certificate of Approval no.CF 277 from Warrington Certification Ltd, Holmesfield Road, Warrington (www.certifire.co.uk) for use on steel doors of up to five-hour fire resistance and on wooden doors of up to two-hour fire resistance

CERTIFIRE is the only accredited certification scheme operating specifically in the field of passive fire protection, ensuring that products leaving the manufacturer are consistently produced to the same high quality and have the same performance as the tested samples.

The Divisional Manager of Warrington Certification Ltd which operates CERTIFIRE, Mr Bob Williams, comments as follows: " A five-hour fire resistance performance is difficult to achieve, and the Arrow 300 Series are the first overhead door closers to be certificated in the UK for their contribution to doors with that level of performance.

"There are four different models in the Arrow 300 Series, plus a comprehensive selection of all-over cover designs in solid stainless steel or plated and painted finishes to complement and enhance every decor and location.

Practical features include door speed and latching speed adjustment, backcheck and delayed action.

All Arrow 300 Series door closers carry a guarantee.

They incorporate a rack-and-pinion mechanism with hardened and ground, high-tensile steel piston and pinion, to assure quiet, highly efficient operation throughout their service.

And every model is available as an AutoCAD drawing on CD-ROM to aid productivity and accuracy in design and draughting.

But now the superior, certificated contribution to fire resistance of Arrow 300 Series door closers gives the extra assurance which specifiers such as architects, interior designers, door manufacturers and facilities managers have long sought in the marketplace.

And it is clear affirmation, too, to the enforcers checking compliance with the Building Regulations (building control officers) and the Fire Safety Regulations (fire officers).

Brian C Danks, the Managing Director of Freeman and Pardoe Engineering Ltd of which Arrow is a Division, sums up: "We are reflecting market needs in making fire safety our no.1 priority.
