Chromatics from The Glass Wall Company has been used in the redevelopment of King's Mill Hospital in Mansfield to create coloured facade panels in oranges, purples and reds.

Part of the Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the hospital is undergoing an extensive redevelopment of its existing acute facility by creating a single unified hospital.

The building is a striking modern design, and architecturally it has a strong civic presence due to the multi-coloured glass facade.

Lighter coloured facade panels, such as the blues, greens and whites, were created with conventional coloured, enamelled toughened glass.

Other parts of the spectrum - oranges, purples and reds - called for a different solution - the Chromatics process from The Glass Wall Company.

If the customary toughened glass production process is used for the deeper coloured panels, an environmentally unacceptable level of heavy metal content is involved.

The Chromatics process is considerate to the environment and uses a low-energy green technology, without the involvement of any toxic elements or solvent-based compounds.
