Wembley Contract For Newly-Merged Door Supplier

Just awarded a contract to supply doors to the new Wembley Stadium, two well-known Birmingham-based industrial door and shutter specialists - Fitzpatrick Doorframes and F W Watkins and Sons - have merged to form Fitzpatrick Doors.

The newly-formed company designs, manufactures and installs a full range of steel hinged doors, roller shutters and security grilles to meet the growing requirements for fire safety, security and sound reduction in the industrial and commercial field.

The Wembley contract involves the supply of almost 2,000 steel frames and 550 steel doorsets to satisfy security and fire requirements on this prestigious contract.

Other recent contracts for the firm have included the installation of doors in the Scottish Parliament, Houses of Parliament, a Home Office project in London, a shopping centre in Worcester and the new Radisson SAS hotel at Stansted Airport.

"Our expansion plans are underpinned by capital investment in new equipment, recruitment of new sales staff and a refocused marketing operation," explains Steve Small, managing director, Fitzpatrick Doors.

The company has recently installed a new £80,000 CNC-controlled press brake for metal forming work to improve quality and cut manufacturing time.

A new commercial manager and sales person are also set to join the team.

Steve Small bought Lacra Fitzpatrick Doorframes in 1982 and rebuilt the business to become one of the best-known names in industrial doors.

Key to the company's success was the design and development of fire-tested metal doorsets, which saw the company expand its market into the Middle East where it now has licensee operations.
