Due for completion in 2007, this project is the largest science facility to be built in the UK for nearly thirty years and will provide infra-red, ultra-violet and X-ray beams of exceptional brightness to enable scientists to probe deep into the internal structure of different materials.

Main contractor on the project is Costain Fitzpatrick has provided 50 polyester powder-coated steel hinged doorsets and associated ironmongery to the project's building envelope contractor, Lakesmere.

The security doors are installed on the inner and outer circumference of the building.

"We are delighted to be involved in such a prestigious project and worked closely with Lakesmere to produce the custom-made doorsets," says Russell Grove, Sales Director, Fitzpatrick Doors.

"We are currently working on three further door supply contracts with the specialist envelope contractor including ISIS (a sister particle accelerator facility to Diamond Light Source), Southampton Airport and an industrial development project in Bournemouth.
