Furnitubes Portman bins for Flagship Playscape

A Furnitubes International product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jun 30, 2009

Furnitubes International has supplied its Portman litter bins to the King George's Field Playscape designed by Groundwork London.

It is the first full size flagship playscape in West London and designed by Landscape Architects Adam White and Andree Davies from Groundwork London.

They worked with the children from St Marks Primary school to develop the multi award winning Groundwork Playscape RHS Show garden.

Continuing to work with the school children they secured funding and support for the King George's Field project.

The area used to be a tired old playground with little play equipment and no planting or natural materials.

The children who used it complained that they didn't have anywhere fun to play and explore.

Groundwork London wanted to create a traditional playground with a more natural approach to play.

They took the decision to use Furnitubes Portman litterbins as the style worked well with the concept.

The timber slats complement the rural environment while the galvanised steel frame has durability together with a modern and fresh appearance.

The playscape was opened by the Mayor during an afternoon that included willow weaving, face painting and plenty on food and drink.
