Gartec has installed a disabled platform lift in the new £2.7 million three-storey headquarters building constructed for the Chinese Overseas Christian Mission (COCM) in Milton Keynes.

The Chinese Overseas Christian Mission (COCM) is an inter-denominational mission and is affiliated with Chinese Christian Churches and Fellowships all over the Europe Its objective is to bring the gospel to Chinese nationals located throughout Europe through pioneering evangelism, training and study

The new HQ building was designed by London-based architectural practice, Mercer + Tan, and commissioned by the Chinese Overseas Christian Mission to offer residential religious study for students.

The 1900m2 building provides offices for teaching staff and the Mission Centre, seminar rooms, library, dining and social areas as well as 40 bedrooms for students.

Having created a building with a natural but modern look, the Chinese Overseas Christian Mission wanted to comply with Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) regulations and provide ease of access to all facilities within the building, so chose Gartec to install a 3-stop platform lift into the main reception area.

The stand-alone design of the new lift is modernist in appearance and has been configured to compliment the bold colours and choice of materials in the building's design.

Finished in an attractive dark grey colour scheme and extensively glazed on two sides, the lift is fitted with extra wide doors to provide the less able with an alternative means of travel to the stairs.

Manufactured to a high standard, using attractive hard wearing finishes Gartec platform lifts are ideal for any installation.

The Platform lift has a variety of options, including special colours and materials, a choice of glazed or enclosed shafts, and automatic doors and door openers.

Gartec Limited is the premier supplier of platform lifts for disabled access and has installed over 1000 such lifts.

They provide complete lifting solutions and their product range also includes hydraulic lifts, vehicle lifts and vertical bi-parting doors.

Formed in January 1994 to market lifts manufactured by GMV Sweden AB, the company operates in the UK and also exports complete hydraulic lift systems to Hong Kong, China and Thailand.
