GroundSure includes new radon data in reports
GroundSure will now include the new Health Protection Agency and British Geological Survey radon data in all its environmental reports and Planning Report.
The maps date back to 1840 and have been scanned in at scales of 1:1,250, 1:2,500 and 1:10,000.
It is the most complete and accurate land use record available in the UK, enabling developers, surveyors, consultants, civil engineers and commercial conveyancers to quickly and easily access the potential impact of environmental factors such as potentially contaminated land, ground stability and flood risk on commercial properties.
Commenting, Paul Livett, Chairman of GroundSure, said: "The environment agency estimates that over 300,000 hectares of UK land are contaminated, with the root of problems stemming right back to the industrial revolution in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
Given this, it is essential that purchasers are aware of the risks they are exposed to before embarking on property transactions.
The Environmental Act of 1995 set the principle of 'polluter pays'.
However, given that it is often impossible to identify the original polluter, owners face the possibility of being left with expensive remediation bills, and issues that could severely negatively impact their property value.
Early risk identification, easily achievable through advanced digital historical mapping services, is crucial for peace of mind.
GroundSure's product offering was already industry leading, but the improvements we have announced this month in terms of data enhancements and more robust environmental risk solutions, further improve our offering and expand it for use by banks, valuers and insurers".
