IIDA recognizes Gensler with two awards
Gensler Architecture, Design and Planning Worldwide won two awards in the International Interior Design Association Decade of Design Competition.
Gensler Architecture, Design and Planning Worldwide won two awards in the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Decade of Design Competition, including "Best of Competition" for its design of Swiss Re Financial Services at IIDA's 10-year anniversary celebration on June 14, 2004 IIDA sponsored the competition to honor the best work of the interior design community from 1994 to 2004 - the same period of time that the association has been in existence

The $10,000 cash prize that Gensler received from Permagrain, the award's sponsor, will be donated to the Donald G.
Brinkmann Scholarship Fund, which awards tuition credits to talented interior design students in memory of Don Brinkmann, a former vice president at Gensler.
Coincidentally, Brinkmann was the design director for the Swiss Re project in 1997.
"We are thrilled simply to have two projects in this elite group," said Art Gensler, Gensler's chairman.
"But Swiss Re's Best in Competition Award is a real honor".
"Now a gifted student will benefit directly from Don's vision and talent - I can't think of anything more fitting".
All 10 Decade of Design projects are featured in the June 2004 issue of Contract magazine, the publishing partner for this competition.
"In our opinion, the judges did and excellent job of separating both the dull and expected and the flighty and superficial from the real deal_design that embraces beauty, purpose, and attainability equally well," stated Contract.
"These 10 winners easily fit the definition of 'classic;' a state of being that any designer - in any decade - should aspire to".
The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) works to enhance quality of life through excellence in interior design and to advance interior design through knowledge, value and community.
IIDA is a professional networking and educational association of 10,000 Members in eight specialty Forums, nine Regions, and more than 30 Chapters around the world.

The Donald G Brinkmann Scholarship Fund was established in 1999 as a memorial to Brinkmann, a gifted designer and inspirational leader at Gensler for 16 years.
The scholarship award is presented annually to one or more outstanding students attending schools of interior design in New York City.
The scholarship is administered by the Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund, who is responsible for investing the contributions and distributing the annual awards as tuition credits to the respective schools.
