Green light for solar project thanks to
Gledhill
Gledhill's Torrent Solar can be fitted in the same time it takes to replace a conventional cylinder and offers the easiest and most cost effective route to powerful high flow rate showering.
Going green was a walk in the park for Tony Seaford at Read in the Ribble Valley thanks to a high efficiency solar thermal store for energy saving heating and hot water, courtesy of Gledhill Building Products Gledhill's Torrent Solar can be fitted in the same time it takes to replace a conventional cylinder and offers the easiest and most cost effective route to powerful high flow rate showering

High performance partner for condensing boiler
Condencyl HE is latest high performance cylinder from Gledhill Building Products designed especially for use with condensing boilers.
Mr Seaford was motivated to integrate solar energy into his three bedroom home after a visit to Barratt's EcoSmart Show Village in Chorley on recommendation from Ribble Valley Borough Council.
The village comprises seven environmentally-friendly family houses and Gledhill was instrumental in advising Barratt on how best to integrate alternative energies into the homes in order to maximise the performance of domestic heating and hot water systems.
"What immediately impressed me about the Gledhill solar thermal store was that it seemed so simple and made so much common sense" explained Mr Seaford.
"The solar heat exchanger is located in such a way that even small amounts of heat from solar panels can be utilised.
Water then heated by the panels is fed through a boiler and this limits the fuel required for heating - saving both cost and energy.
"Today for example, all my heating and hot water is being generated by the solar panels, with no input from a boiler needed, despite temperatures of only 2degC outside".
The new heating system was installed by Heatwise of Lytham St Annes, who explained the workings to Mr Seaford step by step and demonstrated how to get the most cost effective use from solar energy.
A Torrent upgrades domestic hot water systems to mains pressure, delivering up to 25 litres per minute, enough to fill a standard bath in just 3-4 minutes.
It also improves system efficiency, reduces running costs and enables the removal of water tanks from the roof space.
Installers are required to source their own solar controller and pumping station, but Gledhill's Torrent Solar is conveniently fitted with sensor pockets suitable for most 'off the shelf' controllers.
The Torrent is available in a range of sizes and will provide mains pressure domestic hot water and open vented heating, sealed primary is also optional.
