Gleeds role in new HQ for Wallace and Gromit

A Gleeds product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Apr 21, 2009

New GBP8m headquarters has just been completed for Aardman Animations, the creators of animated legends Wallace and Gromit.

The International Management and Construction Consultancy, Gleeds, working with Alec French Architects and Arup Engineers, provided Project Management and Quantity Surveying services during the construction of the 3 storey, 3,200m2 purpose designed building.

It now offers new and improved accommodation for various departments including Creatives, Rights Management, Finance, HR, Commercials Production and Broadcast.

The low energy solutions developed by Arup include measures such as computer controlled venting systems, which will be used to regulate the opening and closing of the windows and encourage natural ventilation throughout the building.

Only when the internal temperature of the structure exceeds the design parameters of the building will the windows and vents close to allow a powered ventilation system to commence.

Ian Gibson, Managing Director of Gleeds Management Services who was responsible for the project said, "We are delighted to have been given this fantastic opportunity to work on such an important and exciting project in Bristol".

"Sustainability is an increasingly important field and our involvement only serves to stress Gleeds' commitment and experience in delivering state of the art eco friendly buildings.
