Gleeds appointed to pioneering German Partnership
Gleeds, the International Management and Construction Consultancy, has become the only UK firm to have acquired a shareholding in a pioneering German framework known as 'Partnerschaften Deutschland'.
Gleeds was one of 11 Advisors who successfully bid for shares of the consultants lot.
Partnerschaften Deutschland AG is a joint venture inspired by the achievements of 'Partnerships UK' (PUK), that bridges the gap between public and private sectors.
Its primary business areas are initial project advice and assisting with the development of policies and innovative methods of supporting the German PPP market.
The German Government decided to install its new framework as a method of gaining an injection of more private finance into projects and expanding the procurement opportunities through Public Private Partnerships (PPP) and Private Finance Initiative (PFI) schemes across the country.
This is seen as a way of bringing additional resources in addition to the public purse and also a way of extending the market into previously under-serviced sectors and regions.
The company also intends to standardise procedures and in doing all this, hopes to triple the number of PPP and PFI schemes currently being undertaken.
Gleeds was the only UK firm selected for the framework thanks to its extensive experience and specialist knowledge as Technical Advisors throughout the PPP/PFI procurement process, coupled with its position in Europe.
They will help to expand the reach of PPP and PFI schemes by supporting workshops and seminars which are designed to give others advice on the ways in which new markets can be successfully accessed, as well as formulating 'best-practice' documents.
Commenting on their appointment, Richard Steer, Senior Partner of Gleeds said "We are delighted to be the only UK firm selected to take part in this ground-breaking scheme for Germany".
"We feel it is a testament to both our extensive experience and success in the PPP and PFI markets and our strong European presence".
"We look forward to playing a vital role in launching this initiative which is fairly new to the German public sector and feel we will bring invaluable advice and support to the scheme".
