BFRC Window Energy Rating System

A Glass and Glazing Federation product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team May 29, 2006

BFRC Window Energy Rating System helps you to select energy efficient windows for your home by comparing windows and rating them to tell you which is the most energy efficient brand.

Window Energy Ratings.

The emission of CO2 into the atmosphere is creating global warming and the UK government has signed International accords to reduce this amount.

The main causes of CO2 emission are transport and buildings.

Buildings and our use of energy in them are becoming more critical and attention is being focused on how energy efficient our buildings really are.

23% of lost energy from buildings is through windows and doors.

These represent large heat losses and in addition to wasting energy make our homes uncomfortable to live in.

If your windows and doors are inefficient doors and windows you will inevitably have high energy bills and will be paying to heat the planet rather than your house.

How do you know that you are buying the right products with your money? This is where the BFRC Window Energy rating System comes in.

It helps you to select energy efficient windows for your home by comparing windows and rating them to tell you which is the most energy efficient brand of window in a recognisable A-G multicoloured banding.

The aim of the BFRC is to give you the information that you need to make the best choice.

We do not recommend one material or system.

We simply provide the information on which systems are the most energy efficient.

The Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF).

The GGF is the recognised leading authority for employers and companies within the flat glass, glazing, window, home improvement, plastics and film industries.

Membership of the Federation is not automatic.

Companies must have been trading for three years; and we have a strict vetting procedure that includes looking at company accounts and site visits.

The Federation represents more than 60% of the industry's turnover.
