Airport terminal roof requires Gripple hangers

A Gripple product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jan 22, 2010

Gripple has supplied its hangers for internal containment in Manchester Airport's Terminal 1.

The M and E service contractor for the project, Inviron, required a solution to unsecured, roof-mounted air conditioning ducting that could be problematic for planes flying very close to the building.

A fully approved and tested solution was required to restrain the duct work.

Gripple hangers were specified for internal containment in Terminal 1.

Gripple was the contractor's first choice for a tailor-made bracing method on its roof.

Gripple lockable kits were chosen to secure the rectangular ducting, both at the base and height, preventing any form of dynamic movement.

This was done using the roof structure's existing foundations.

The product is lightweight, easy to transport air-side and store without presenting any health and safety concerns.

Kevin Butterworth, an Inviron project manager, said: "Gripple provided us with an easy solution to a very difficult problem".

Gripple hangers are fast to install and aesthetically minimalistic in exposed areas.

They have been utilised in airport refurbishment and new builds across the world.
