The new ScanPrint SP200W scanner benefits from the technical expertise, design and engineering quality that has made Japan's Graphtec the leading CIS (contact image sensor) large format scanner manufacturer worldwide.
The ScanPrint SP200W scanner is notable for being:.
- the smallest 36" scanner.
- the lightest 36" large format scanner.
- the fastest monochrome / colour CIS scanner.
- the lowest priced 36" A0 colour scanner (at GBP4650 excl.
including printer).
- the first entry-level wide format scan, copy and print system (scanner and printer).
- the first to include a Two Year On-Site Warranty as standard in the UK.
This small and stylish large format product introduces the benefits of high quality A0 monochrome and colour scanning and A1 printing and copying to the cost-conscious buyer for the first time.
It offers an emerging new market that includes architects and building professionals an affordable large format multi-function product capable of colour scanning, fast CAD printing and large format facsimile copying.
The ScanPrint's low price, high performance and exceptionally small footprint make it particularly suitable for space-constrained design professionals working in small drawing offices, design studios and home (SOHO) office environments.
The scanner's lightweight design meets the need for a compact, transportable (back of estate car) colour scanning solution that can be taken on-site.
ScanPrint SP200W-06 Scanner.
A Japanese product, the ScanPrint scanner is superbly engineered, compact and lightweight.
It is available in two models.
A Desktop model is supplied with short legs tall enough to snugly accomodate the printer beneath the scanner.
A High Stand model is supplied with tall legs for both the scanner and printer.
The cost of the SP200W-H (High Stand) is GBP4995 (excl).
Weighing just 27kg the SP200W-D (Desktop) is the lightest, smallest and most transportable of all wide format scanners.
The ScanPrint uses Graphtec's tried-and-tested CIS (contact image sensor) technology which is a well-proven solution for the scanning of technical drawings.
It uses five CIS sensor arrays capable of high graphics quality 600 dpi optical resolution up to 1200 dpi interpolated.
The ScanPrint scans drawings up to 965mm (38") wide with an image width of 932mm (36"), enough for scanning A0 drawings in portrait mode.
A centre-justified paper feed with two sliding guides makes it easy to square and feed drawings straight into the ScanPrint which will accept a maximum paper thickness of 0.8mm, well within the range of most technical drawings.
Two hidden catches on the outer underside of the hood allow easy access for cleaning purposes.
Once opened, the hood is held upright by a neat push-to-close latch.
A discrete display panel shows Power On / Off, Backward / Forward, Stop, Paper Ready and System Error.
The ScanPrint is an effective 24-bit (16.7m) colour scanner.
A Softcover comparison of its scan speed with a rival's top-of-the-range fast monochrome, fast colour scanner shows that the ScanPrint is the fastest CIS colour scanner.
It saves colour, greyscale and monochrome files in popular file formats, including TIFF G4, JPEG and PDF.
A two year on-site warranty is supplied as standard.
ScanPrint SP200W-06 Printer.
The supplied printer is Graphtec's new JW220 MasterJet, a fast standalone A1 colour thermal inkjet.
The SP200W printer is distinguished from other popular makes by being a complete product.
It offers a print resolution of 2400 x 1200 dpi monochrome and 4800 x 1200 dpi colour, both higher than the leading brand and includes an A1 paper roll feed and an A4 - A2 sheet guide table as standard.
An A4 - A2 automatic cut-sheet cassette tray and a waist-high printer stand are optional extras.
With three available print speeds - Fast, Standard and High Quality (slow) - the Graphtec printer is capable of quick, high resolution draft printing suitable CAD technical drawing production work.
For designers demanding even higher, more precise print accuracy and colour sharpness the High Quality (slow) setting allows the final print to be produced to presentation quality.
In tests an A1 colour AutoCAD DWG file printed as a greyscale in Normal mode in 93 seconds.
This is well within the speed range of comparable printers.
The workmanlike MasterJet will prints to a variety of papers - plain, recycled, matte, coated, tracing, glossy - suitable for CAD drawings, facsimile copying and filing.
It will allow print margins to within 5mm of either side of any drawing sheet.
It uses an integrated black and colour print head with 100ml Black and 50ml Cyan, Magenta and Yellow proprietary Graphtec ink cartridges.
Graphtec claim that the cost of ownership is "restrained, making it highly cost-effective to operate".
A two year on-site warranty is supplied as standard.
Scanning Arts Software.
Linking the scanner and printer together is Graphtec's supplied Scanning Arts software.
Designed for quick and easy use by the layman, the software includes powerful controls that will automatically extract good quality scanned images from poor quality originals, like blueprints, dyelines, etc.
Importantly, the Scanning Arts software allows the operator to easily define presets, scanning settings that can contain different values for different types and sizes of drawings, for re-use at a later stage.
Coupled with incrementally updated file names, the software makes single or volume scanning a simple process.
A0 originals can be scanned and quickly printed as A1 colour or monochrome copies in one action.
