Adprufe System is an advanced liquid admixture based system developed by Grace Construction Products for integrally waterproofing below ground structures.

The British Board of Agrement has confirmed its certification of the Adprufe System, an advanced liquid admixture based system developed by Grace Construction Products for integrally waterproofing below ground structures Adprufe 100, which represents one of the most significant advances in structural waterproofing in the last decade, provides waterproof concrete with reduced shrinkage, reduced water permeability and superior strength when compared to that offered by others

The liquid admixture product is the cornerstone of Grace's new Adprufe System, which provides a unique total waterproofing solution for any sub-structure project.

Grace is the only company in the UK that is currently able to offer waterproof concrete, external tanking membranes, drained cavity solutions and cementitious waterproof coatings for sub-structure waterproofing.

It means that specifiers and contractors who need to use a variety of waterproofing solutions on their projects benefit from single-sourcing of products and technical detailing when using Grace products.

Bob Hathaway, European product manager for Grace Construction Products, said: "Adprufe is the most significant waterproofing system we have launched in Europe, certainly in the last 10 years".

"We have a system in Adprufe that embraces our expertise in both structural waterproofing and chemical admixtures for concrete.

It's a major achievement and it's unique because it has been developed from Grace's patented shrinkage-reducing technology and well proven permeability-reducing technology in a single system.

"No other company can offer a total waterproofing solution that comes close to rivalling Grace's portfolio of products and technical expertise".

Adprufe 100 reduces the reliance on waterproofing membranes in many below ground applications, thus reducing risk and significantly speeding up contract programmes.

This new liquid admixture also reduces drying shrinkage to minimise the frequency and width of cracks, blocks pores to reduce water absorption and permeability, and improves the workability of the concrete to ease placement and compaction.

The addition of Adprufe 100 to a concrete mix will increase its strength by around 70% after one day, and by about 30% after 28 days - representing superior performance compared to rival products, according to data published by the BBA.

It also reduces water permeability by approximately 80% and reduces water vapour permeability of concrete by around 50% - again outperforming other products on the market.

In addition to the new liquid admixture product, the Adprufe System includes: Adva Flow 410, high performance super-plasticiser admixture; Adcor 500s, hydro expansive waterstop system for construction joints and penetrations; Serviseal AT, PVC/hydro expansive waterstop for movement joints; and Betec 350, cementitious compound for sealing tie-bar holes.

Grace's advanced system is ideally suited for basements, lift pits, water-retaining structures such as swimming pools, hence covering all methods of construction in BS8102 - the main code for waterproofing below ground.

The Adprufe System is currently being used on the multi-million pound Kings Waterfront redevelopment in Liverpool as well as on the mixed-use Walkergate regeneration project in Durham.
