Zero carbon homes: wider thinking needed
Much more emphasis should be put on developing green communities to satisfy our energy efficiency needs, says Hanson chief.

Mr Szymanski was speaking at a preview of Hanson's latest 'concept dwelling' - an energy-saving home that features many of the company's sustainable products.
The house will be formally unveiled at the BRE Offsite 2007 event in June.
"We need to start talking about communities and not individual houses".
"At the moment, it is extremely difficult to attain zero-carbon status, except perhaps by including wind turbines and ground source heat pumps".
"If we are really serious about sustainability, we should be looking to install these with capacities large enough to supply whole communities".
"We need to live it as well as build it".
"The community needs to buy into it, too," he said.
Mr Szymanski said that plans were in hand to show the benefits of the new Hanson house in a community setting.
