Metal building envelope solutions provider Arcelor Construction UK thanks MP for pressurising Government on speed of implementation of latest Building Regulations relating to Part L2.

Metal building envelope solutions provider Arcelor Construction UK has thanked one of its local MPs for pressurising the Government on the speed of implementation of the latest Building Regulations relating to Part L2 Dave Watts, MP for St Helens North and Government Whip, was following up a recent briefing session at St Helens Chamber (of commerce) with a visit to the company's St Helens operation on Friday 16th March

Arcelor Construction UK is a subsidiary of the newly-formed Arcelor Mittal, the world's No 1 steel company, with 320,000 employees in 60 countries.

In a two-hour visit facilitated by the chamber, he was given a tour of Arcelor's factory by managing director Chris Allwood who thanked him for his assistance in lobbying Government ministers on the implementation of the Part L2 Building Regulations.

Mr Watts also took the opportunity to talk to the management team and employees regarding local construction activity and developing opportunities within the region.

Arcelor Construction (formerly Haironville TAC) supplies the construction industry with a wide variety of innovative and standard metal building solutions - profiled roofing, cladding and decking sheets as well as flashings and fabrications, all manufactured from Arcelor Mittal steel.

2007 will see Arcelor Construction launch new products and market-leading guarantees as well as gain industry accreditations that will make the sector sit up and take notice of this latest chapter in the renaissance of the company.

Chris Allwood said: "It was a very positive and useful visit".

"Dave has been very helpful in highlighting to central Government the need to increase the speed at which the new regulations are introduced and implemented for construction".

The company also recently took part in an annual Arcelor Mittal health and safety day which comprised the exchange and debate of ideas and demonstrations highlighting best practice and new initiatives.
