X-connex, new data sharing technology, links HBXL's PlansXpress, EstimatorXpress and Health and Safety Xpert software packages into one easy to use process.

Builders wanting to save significant amounts of time and money will be able to do so thanks to the launch a some new, ground-breaking software technology Many builders employ the services of different skilled people such as designers or architects to draw plans, pay a quantity surveyor to create estimates and employ a consultant to ensure the latest health and safety laws are adhered to such as CDM 2007

Until today, all these functions would involve three separate software packages or the use of old fashioned methods for drawing plans and collating estimates which can be time-consuming or costly to the smaller building company.

But the new technology developed by HBXL, the building software specialists, means builders will be able to seamlessly draw plans, produce estimates and keep their health and safety paperwork up to date at the click of a button.

Called x-connex this new data sharing technology links HBXL's PlansXpress, EstimatorXpress and Health and Safety Xpert software packages into one easy to use process, which means project details need only be inputted once, saving builders huge amounts of time that would otherwise be spent pulling together separate plans, drawing up an estimate and making sure health and safety paperwork is up to date.

It means builders now have access to one very powerful construction tool allowing them to confidently tackle every stage of a job without the need to pay someone else for the service.

This unique link means builders can now draw their own building plans (or scan existing plans to trace over) which are then interpreted into a totally accurate estimate with a full breakdown of costs at the touch of a button.

In addition all the health and safety paperwork can be automatically produced to satisfy the builder's paperwork obligations.

Developed by a builder who knows what builders need, this new interconnected suite of software is the brainchild of Adrian Wild, the managing director at HBXL.

Adrian said: "Interpreting a set of building plans into an accurate estimate has never been a particularly easy exercise to undertake".

"Before now, no two software packages 'spoke' to each other, meaning builders had to learn how to use different types of systems and enter info twice - once into the CAD package and again into the estimating software.

"At the same time, once you've got the job and you're on site, there's the issue of keeping the health and safety paperwork right up to date".

"And at a time when the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is making more random inspections, making sure you're covered has never been more important".

"But through our suite of products and x-connex, builders can offer customers the complete build package from professionally presented drawings and visuals to totally accurate estimates and build programmes".

"If a customer already has a set of plans, PlansXpress allows the builder to import the drawings and trace over them onscreen to fully cost the project, produce elevations, 3D visuals, professional quotes and schedules".

Verifying the benefits of HBXL's software, the company won several awards at the recent Interbuild show, not least a commendation for Best Connected Construction Process in the iTShowcase awards in November 2007.

Builders wanting to increase their profitability and improve their work-life balance will be pleased to know that HBXL has packaged these three software tools into one box at 20% off the normal price called the HBXL Project Toolkit, complete with built in x-connex data sharing technology.
