Record carbon reduction drive by the
Heat Project.
16 million homeowners and private tenants contacted via direct mail campaign intended to increase take up of grants available for energy efficiency measures through the Heat Project.
The significant number of households contacted is a result of increased funding by utility companies under the Government led initiative, CERT (Carbon Emissions Reduction Target), and an effort to capitalise on the emergent green conscience among consumers as a result of greater media coverage and awareness of the environment and global warming issues Homes as far North as Northumberland down to the tip of the South-West will have been contacted by the Heat Project during its Autumn-Spring campaign, which commenced in September 2007 and breaks for the Summer in May 2008

UK Businesses - No Successful Energy Policies
Market research from energy consultant shows little evidence of successful implementation of energy policies.
The direct mail drive is a pro-active attempt by the company to reinforce the issue of energy efficiency in the home and the ease in which we can all make a significant improvement to the UK's carbon emissions and our own carbon footprints through the straight forward installation of loft and cavity wall insulation.
It is widely recognised that loft and cavity wall insulation can save the average household around GBP200 off its annual fuel bill and cut the properties carbon emissions by nearly two tonnes.
The rolling direct mail campaign by the Heat Project has already produced extremely positive results, helped further by the recent inclusion of an over 70s category under CERT that entitles all homeowners and private tenants over the age of 70 to free insulation, in addition to those already eligible who are in receipt of income or disability related benefits.
Since announcing the over 70s initiative in January, the Heat Project has reported an impressive 25% increase in responses from this demographic; in terms of reducing fuel poverty amongst the vulnerable, in particular the elderly, the 25% increase in responses among the over 70 category is all the more poignant.
Directly influential on the success and scope of the Heat Project campaign, the government's CERT initiative has increased the availability of funding to such insulation schemes, resulting in greater marketing capabilities and ultimately take up of the grants on offer, ensuring the UK endeavours to meet its carbon emissions reduction target of 20% by 2010, and 60% by 2050.
