Heath Lambert launches new Asbestos scheme
Heath Lambert Group announces the launch of an important new insurance scheme for asbestos removal contractors.
Heath Lambert Group today announces the launch of an important new insurance scheme for asbestos removal contractors, providing much needed competition in a market which has suffered from a lack of choice.
The scheme is being launched in conjunction with ACAD, the Asbestos Control and Abatement Division of the Thermal Insulation Contractors Association (TICA) one of the leading trade association bodies for companies involved in the management and removal of asbestos.
Insurance has been a major issue for firms that specialise in asbestos removal for some time.
High rates have meant that some contractors currently spend a disproportionate part of their turnover on insurance cover.
Over the last few years premiums have increased to a level where some firms have even been forced to leave the industry.
The new scheme provides Employer's Liability, Public and Products' Liability, Environmental Impairment and Contractor's All Risks cover.
The scheme is further enhanced by a series of value-added services including:.
Medical and vocational rehabilitation support designed to reduce the cost of claims.
Health and Safety loss control supported by a free telephone Helpline.
A "serious accident response service" to help companies deal with potentially damaging serious incidents.
Personal Accident cover as a standard part of the Employer's Liability and Public Liability insurance elements.
The scheme is underwritten up by AIG Europe (UK) Limited, part of American International Group , (AIG) a leading insurer of asbestos removal firms in the USA.
Steve Redgwell, Managing Director, UK Broking Heath Lambert Group commented: "Asbestos removal has previously been viewed as a high-risk area for insurance and therefore as an unattractive risk to take on".
"The reality is that it is one of the most closely regulated industries in the UK, with excellent standards of quality control".
"Our new package of insurance offers contractors the opportunity of significantly enhanced coverage and introduces some much needed competition into the market which has to be good news for companies in this sector".
Ralph Bradley, ACAD Chief Executive commented: "This is excellent news".
"Insurance has been a difficult and even emotive subject for our members and license-holders generally".
"To finally have a real alternative - and a very competitive one at that - is fantastic".
"We will be working with Heath Lambert Group to promote ACAD Insurance Solutions to the widest possible industry audience".
