Hewlett Civil Engineering is assisting Miller Homes with a major regeneration project at a former colliery site in Allerton Bywater, near Leeds.

Leeds-based Hewlett Civil Engineering is assisting Miller Homes with a major regeneration project at a former colliery site in Allerton Bywater, near Leeds The three-year contract at the UK's second Millennium Village sees the Hewlett team delivering a programme of infrastructure and ground works to a scheme, which has been endorsed as a model for sustainability and innovation

"In awarding this contract to Hewlett, Miller Homes has demonstrated its faith in our professionalism, " says Alan Cooper, Managing Director at Hewlett.

"Breathing new life into the region, this flagship development is being watched closely by the government and industry alike as a benchmark for best practise value engineering, and I'm delighted that Hewlett will be part of this new initiative at Millennium Village in Leeds".

Millennium Village has been designed as a HomeZone, creating space where quality of life comes first.

In planning Allerton Bywater, Miller Homes have worked closely with English Partnerships, the national regeneration agency, in order to comply with Millennium Community Standards.

On completion it will be one of the most advanced ecological developments in Britain, and in line with the Millennium Community Standards will achieve the following:.

Reduction of energy consumption by 20%.

Reduction of mains water consumption in the home by 20%.

Reduction of domestic waste in the home by 50%.

Reduction of construction waste by 50%.
