Two new PFI successes for Hewlett in

Hewlett Civil Engineering has been successful with two bids for PFI projects: for Balfour Beatty in Pontefract and Bovis Lend Lease in Sheffield.

Hewlett Civil Engineering announces today that it has been successful with two bids for PFI projects The contracts for Balfour Beatty in Pontefract and Bovis Lend Lease in Sheffield have a value of over £3 million for the Leeds-based civil engineering company

As part of the contract with Balfour Beatty at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield, Hewlett will carry out enabling works, road and car park works.

The contract value is £1.25million.

Hewlett has also been awarded a ground-works package with Bovis Lend Lease for a student accommodation scheme in Sheffield.

The first phase of work is approaching £2million and Hewlett is currently competing for phase II of works, said to be worth an estimated £6 to £8millon.

"These successes further underpin our leading position in the civil engineering marketplace and are probably two of the most substantial programmes of work we have this year.

"We are currently tendering for the next stage of works to both Bovis and Balfour which if we are successful with our bids, will be a massive string to our bow in terms of PFI contract work".

Project title: Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield Client: Balfour Beatty Description: The hospital is currently the subject of a possible PFI solution to provide services in a modern functional unit.

The current building stock is being reinvigorated with capital investment allowing for the replacement of some wards and operating theatres.

The scheme will rationalise existing hospital facilities and improve healthcare provision in Wakefield and the surrounding area.

Facilities will be financed, designed, built and managed as part of a Private Finance Initiative led by Balfour Beatty.
