Platform modification package of works at Crewe Station in Cheshire has been handed to rail specialists Hewlett Civil Engineering.

A platform modification package of works at Crewe Station in Cheshire has been handed to Leeds-based rail specialists Hewlett Civil Engineering The overall scheme by Galliford Try on behalf of Network Rail comprises the renovation of Crewe Rail Station, station buildings and its environs that are below best modern standards

Hewlett will be carrying out modification works to the station platform in preparation for canopy renewal.

Richard Sheeran, Commercial Manager for Hewlett Civil Engineering commented: "This is building on previous rail work with Galliford Try".

"Our proven ability to deliver contracts on time and to budget, thus enabling us to fulfil our obligations to our client was key in gaining the business." Crewe Station is a major rail interchange and 'gateway' to the North West of England and its role is set to increase when a number of improvements are made to the rail network through the West Coast Main Line Modernisation programme.
