Highways package includes section 278 works

Hewlett has secured a highways package that includes section 278 works with foundations work for a show home area at the Millers Croft scheme in Castleford, worth half a million pounds.

2007 formally marks Hewlett's 20th year of business success and it seems the Civil Engineering Company has more than one reason to be celebrating as the new contracts just keep on coming.

Recently instructed by Barratt Homes, Hewlett has secured a highways package that includes section 278 works plus foundations work for a show home area at the housebuilders Millers Croft scheme in Castleford.

The contract is worth over half million pounds.

Furthermore, Leeds City Council has instructed Hewlett on a highways package that will shape a new junction on Whitehall Road in the city to provide access to a residential development.

Hewlett is already carrying out work on site as part of a groundworks package.

The 30 week programme is due to commence in June 2007 and is worth approximately GBP300,000.

Forming part of Leeds City Councils programme of improvements to the cities streetscape, Hewlett Civil Engineering has also been commissioned to carry out urgent refurbishment work at a busy pedestrianised area.

The GBP1million contract includes construction of set paving with 'Yorkstone', drainage channels and landscaping (tree pits, lighting and street furniture) over a 200,000sq m area.

In order to minimise disruption to the busy shopping and business area of Albion Street LS1, Hewlett will be carrying out the majority of the work out hours.

The contract will run for 6 months with completion in October 2007.

And last but by no means least, Bovis LendLease has appointed Hewlett Civil Engineering as a specialist sub-contractor for the ongoing scope of works at the Trafford Centre's new 200,000 sq ft retail development called Barton Square, which will adjoin the GBP1.3 billion leisure destination.

Hewlett's remit includes service duct installation, substation and service roads construction and is worth just under GBP1million.
