Exsel Pumps provide optimum performance, demonstrate respect for the environment - energy consumption and noise emissions - and create a new niche market.
When one of UK's more specialist pump rental company - Exsel Pumps - was looking to add to its existing fleet of pumps, it wanted a mobile pump that provided optimum performance, demonstrated respect for the environment - energy consumption and noise emissions - and created a new niche market The answer was the Hidrostal Betsy Self Priming Diesel driven pump set which was designed from the offset with environmental issues in mind

New Pumping Stations At The Castlepoint Centre
HIDROSTAL Limited, the Newbury based manufacturer and supplier of pumping solutions, has successfully completed the M and E installation of two foul pumping stations at the Castlepoint Centre, Dorset.
Built around the highly efficient Hidrostal screw centrifugal pump, already acclaimed for its ability to pump unscreened sewage and sludge without blocking, it uses 50% less fuel than conventional dirty water pumps.
The design incorporates an extremely quiet and efficient running diesel engine, a large capacity fuel tank with bunded storage facilities to enable fuel or lubricating oil leakage to remain within the unit so eliminating ground contamination (common with many typical competitors' models).
Operation is completely automatic and trouble-free, based on electronic priming and continuous level management.

Betsy Is Even Quieter!!
With noise emissions now reduced to 55 dB at 7 metres distance, the new redesigned Hidrostal 100 mm self-priming, diesel engine pump set, affectionately known as Betsy, is keeping nobody awake!
The vacuum priming equipment is electrically controlled to operate only when required, adding to the fuel savings; the level control eliminates the need to run on snore (dry), reducing pump running time, fuel consumption and noise.
Everything is contained within an acoustic housing to permit the unrestricted deployment of Betsy in noise sensitive areas (noise emissions from just 55 dB at 7 metres).
Located in Bishops Waltham, Hampshire, the team at Exsel has a fleet of over 100 pumps that are available for rental 24/7 throughout the South, South West and Midlands.
The uniquely varied fleet has been selected to include the best models from several different manufacturers.
This results in Exsel offering the right model for the relevant applications - not what is necessarily the best compromise from a fleet of single manufacture.
Richard Smith, Managing Director, Exsel said "All businesses have a role to play - or a duty of care - in protecting the environment and I believe that the Betsy pump provides our clients with possibly the most environmentally friendly pump currently available".
"The whole design has been well thought through and is environmentally sound".
"It runs very quietly and is unbelievably fuel efficient because the highly efficient Hidrostal wet end requires a much smaller engine than other manufacturers would need to power comparable models with similar performance".
"The fully bunded chassis eliminates any possibility of pollution caused by dripping on to the ground".
"As an added bonus, it is also a perfect solution for a wide variety of applications from pumping thick sludges, wellpoint dewatering to pumping the more difficult substances such as bentonite".
"I feel very confident that the first customers that have used the Betsy will not remain in the minority for long".
