The two Hidrostal Betsy self priming diesel driven pump sets on hire from Exsel Pumps [Bishops Waltham, Hampshire], are playing an important role in the construction of the diaphragm walls being constructed by Cementation Foundations Skanska.
The technique involves excavating a narrow trench that is kept full of bentonite.
The bentonite exerts hydraulic pressure against the trench walls and acts as shoring to prevent collapse.
The Betsy pumps are used to transfer both the clean and contaminated Bentonite between the on site recycling plant and the trench.
Built around the Hidrostal screw centrifugal impeller with its large free passage, the Betsy pump is recognised for its exceptional solids handling capability and operating efficiency.
The large free passage enables Betsy to pump bentonite, bulky solids, sludges, slurries, etc, without clogging.
Due to the efficient running diesel engine, the automatic electronic priming and the continuous level management system, the pump will only run when necessary keeping operating costs to a minimum.
With noise emissions as low as 55 dB at 7 metres there is also no problem pumping in noise sensitive areas.
All of these features and benefits combine to make Betsy the ideal pumping solution for all construction projects.
