Keith Williams, Managing Director, Comet Tankers explains "When we decided to expand our Flood Relief Service and set up our new division, Comet Pump Hire, we looked for a pump supplier that could offer us a versatile, mobile pumping package that was suitable for both planned and emergency pumping.

The Hidrostal Betsy pump seemed the ideal choice as we needed something capable of pumping virtually anything without blocking - including rag laden sewage which is an important consideration in flooding situations.

The Hidrostal Betsy has been designed with the environment in mind.

It has an extremely quiet and efficient running diesel engine drive with a large capacity fuel tank and storage facility for any potential fuel and liquid leakage.

The vacuum priming equipment is electrically controlled to operate only when required, adding to the fuel savings.

The complete pump set is also able to run for days without any operative present as it is capable of automatic start and stop by level control electrodes.

The Hidrostal screw centrifugal pump with its large free passage and impeller geometry offers the large solids handling capability, so essential in the emergency pumping of unscreened sewage and floodwaters.

Each Betsy unit is contained within an acoustic housing permitting the unrestricted deployment of the pump units in noise sensitive areas.
