Higgins to refurbish over 250 homes in
Lewisham

Higgins Construction PLC is confirmed this week as the main contractor for a GBP3m Decent Homes contract to refurbish over 250 properties in the London Borough of Lewisham over 23 weeks Just a week after Communities Minister David Milliband admitted the Government's targets for Decent Homes would not be met by 2010, Higgins have been briefed to complete this project for the Pepys Estate before the Easter holiday next year

Higgins Construction PLC is the first building company to monitor waste created by refurbishing homes in estate regeneration with the Building Research Establishment.
Pellings of Bromley has already commenced surveys of the properties, which include both scattered street sites and low-rise blocks of flats.
Pellings is also the employers agent and M and E consultant.
The Higgins team plans to begin work involving windows, mechanical services, electrics, kitchens and bathrooms on the first properties in November, tackling between 10 and 15 homes per week.
Higgins' business director Bryan Sabin said: "When the Government admitted the Decent Homes target risked overshooting the 2010 deadline, we can immediately react by digging even deeper to help our clients overcome the enormous challenge.".
