Higgins Construction is the main contractor appointed by Circle Anglia for the development of a greenfield site within the Suffolk village of Old Newton.

Higgins Construction PLC confirms it is the main contractor appointed by Circle Anglia for the GBP2.9 million development of a greenfield site into new affordable mixed-tenure housing within the Suffolk village of Old Newton, near historic Stowmarket.

Modern timber-frame construction will be applied to the 29 traditionally-designed homes, to be built within 12 blocks.

Four of these are to be bungalows designed according to Lifetime Homes standards, for residents to adapt easily according to any special needs in their lifetime.

Natural lighting is used to overcome elevations that cannot be fenestrated within the layout, through the application of solar tubes to bathrooms.

The project's sustainability extends to the site's branch roads, designed to comprise pervious layers and therefore prevent adding to the load of the area's existing drainage system.

Higgins begins construction on site in January working to a JCT98 contract, following archeological survey digs to be carried out from November.

Stanford Eatwell and Associates of Stanstead are the architects.

Miller Mitchell Burly Lane is both employer's agent and QS.
