Hills Electrical and Mechanical plc and Hills Integrated Systems have completed the £1.3 million installation of electrical services at Manchester University's new School of Music and drama.
Working to their own specification on this design and build project, Hills installed state of the art accessories, fittings and a security system to create a safe environment for staff, service users and the community.
The project includes a full underfloor heating system, ventilation, ductwork, a Category 5e structured cabling system for telephony and computer communications and a closed circuit television system.
An on-site transformer supplies electricity to the site, and the main panel in the plant room is split into essential and non-essential loads.
Essential loads, such as lighting, are backed up by a diesel generator.
The main contractor for the project was Bluestone Construction, and Hills' project manager Nigel McClarence worked closely with staff at Bluestone's Leeds office.
The client was Bradford District Care Trust.
